The concrete test is this: in IT, at least three years of qualified professional experience gained within the last seven can stand in place of a degree, and the salary threshold still has to be met. Documenting that experience — reference letters, project records, job descriptions — is the backbone of the application, so the file is built around that evidence set. Since June 2024 there is also the points-based Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte), which lets qualified people enter to look for work without a job offer in hand; between that, the experience-based Blue Card and the skilled-worker routes, the right choice turns on the exact qualification and the evidence available.
