The Turkish economy is drawing the attention of global law firms. Five of the world's 10 largest law firms have opened offices in Turkey.

Developments in the economy, infrastructure investments, and company acquisitions reaching record levels have turned foreign lawyers' eyes towards Turkey. Since 2010, more than 20 international giant law firms have come to Turkey. Having seen the Turkish legal market—which stood at 350 million lira in the early 2000s—approach 4 billion lira in 2012, these global giants shifted their competition in the global arena to Turkey. Among the most notable foreign firms in the “legal war” taking place in Turkey is DLA Piper. The firm, a British-American partnership, closed last year with a turnover of 2.4 billion dollars. DLA Piper, the leader of the global legal league, opened an office in İstanbul towards the end of 2010.THEY FORM PARTNERSHIPSChicago-based Baker&McKenzie, which employs 4,000 lawyers, stepped into Turkey last year. With 75 offices in 46 countries, the firm entered Turkey by forming a partnership with Esin Avukatlık. The US law firm ranks second in the world league with a turnover of 2.3 billion dollars.DEFENDED AGAINST UZANClifford Chance, the world's 5th-largest law firm, which closed last year with a turnover of 1.6 billion pounds, began its İstanbul operations by cooperating with the Turkish firm Yegin. The British firm Allen&Overy, the world's 7th-largest law firm, entered Turkey in 2011. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the world's 8th-largest firm, which defended our country against the Uzans in the Libananco case, also opened an office in İstanbul.
